Had a great time stitching and catching up at Perle’s last night.

And today, I was lucky enough to meet Jo and her ‘not usually so shy’ Ollie.
He was very sweet!!! Jo wasn’t so bad either 😉

I am so enjoying getting to know local bloggers with obsessions to match my own!!

Some stitching also …

Have a great weekend.

Problem solved

Thanks to those of you who offered solutions / ideas to this quilting problem.

In the end I decided to go with an upholstery weight fabric from Spotlight … cheap as chips and the girl just loves it!!

It even has a bit of sparkly glitter through it!!

(Hard to photograph the sparkle … but trust me!!)

Simply quilted and with matching binding …

Happiness is a colourful girly picnic rug!!!

Have a stitchin’ Tuesday!!

Online Quilt Festival

I had a blast during last year’s Quilt Festival hosted by the lovely Amy.

So I’m entering again this year.

I wanted to show a quilt I completed in 2008.
It was my first quilt using lots of scraps from my stash.

I think that’s what is so wonderful about patchwork.
You make do with what you have.

This is the pieced back.

And now with my lovely assistant, Ella

Hope you like it. We do!!!

Enjoy visiting all the other quilts in the festival.

Andi 🙂

PS Have you enetered my giveaway yet?

I have been so completely intrigued by Rita’s brilliance with the half square triangle that I have been inspired to have a go myself.

The great thing about HSTs is the amazing variety of layouts you can choose.

I had a bit of a play with these designs:

and finally settled on this ….

Rita has inspired me in more ways than one:

I’m usually an incredibly lazy sewer but with this one I even trimmed my blocks!!!

I finished up the quilt top on the weekend.

The fabrics are mostly from my stash but the grey is a thrifted flat sheet from the oppy!!

The blocks are 6 inches cut (5.5 inches sewn).
The quilt is 14 blocks squared so (quick calculation …..) 77 inches squared.

I’m planning to hand quilt this one with lots of different coloured threads (to match the fabrics) in the grey areas. Thanks to Kate for that great idea!!!

Now I just need to buy some backing and wadding and get to basting (my least favourite job …. ugh!!!)

See you VERY soon with my first blogiversary giveaway.

Whip up!!

Ella’s birthday is coming up next month.
She has asked for a rainbow quilt this year.

So this morning, I whipped this up …..

Squares are 8.5 inches cut.
48inches x 56 inches sewn.

Super quick and easy to throw together.

I’m considering turning it into a picnic rug for summer time tea parties.

Any suggestions for what to use on the under side?
Something water-proof-ish? Washable?

Keep it simple

My dear girlfriend had a baby boy yesterday.

It took her quite a while to find her Mr Right, but when she finally met him, everything quickly fell into place … except falling pregnant … which took longer than expected.

So you can imagine my excitement at the arrival of little Jonah.

I wanted to make her something QUICKLY!!! So I put together a simple little quilt (about 35 inches square …. just the right size for a pram cover or a portable play mat) with a matching carry bag.

With less than a 24 hour turn around, I think that it is a sweet little quilt. It reminds me that ‘simple’ can sometimes be just what you need!!

I’m off to meet him now!!

Hope your weekend has started as happily as mine.
